First in for the long half was Paul Deaton from Southville running club (in a time of 1.58.03) closely followed by Rob Paddock of GWR in 1.58.26 - after running together throughout. In third was Robert Larder in a time of 2.03.50. For the ladies, Abi White led the way in 2.15.17 with the pair of Annabelle Richards and Judith Gamblin coming in together in 2.29.46. Judith kindly giving Annabelle the second place due to it being her birthday.
In the marathon, our course record was smashed by our second place from last year Luke Hanson of Nailsea Running Club in an amazing time of 3.32.54. Put this in the context of the 27.5 miles of off road course with stiles, gates and many, many hills and we at Portishead Running Club take it as absolutely amazing! In second place (after leading for much of the first half) was Sam Tabberner of Bristol and West AC in 3.39.57 (again beating last years record) and Mark Ducker from Southville RC in third in 3.42.29.
For the ladies in the marathon, Jane Colman led the way in a time of 4.28.38 again beating the course record by 10 minutes. Cat Mills of GWR came in close on Jane's heels in a great time of 4.29.42 with Michelle Claydon of TACH taking third with 4.47.42.
Many thanks to the many marshals out on the course during the day providing support as well as much needed food and drink. Back at the finish line many thanks go to the timing ladies (outdoors for 5 hours) and the group of ladies who welcomed in the runners to the warm sports hall with mugs of soup and much needed coffee, tea and cake.
Special thanks to Race Director Tim Haysom and deputies, Sam Elms, Simon Faulkner and Stu Wallace.
With help from our sponsors Tesco, Wards Solicitors & South West Medics we hope to raise over £4200 and increase our total fundraising over three years to £10000 in what is the tenth anniversary of Charlton Farm Children's Hospice (CHSW).
