Favourite Race: Don’t like ‘races’, prefer ‘challenges’. VO2 Coastal Challenges, Endurance Life Coastal Trail Series. Locals favs would be Ironwood Challenge, Whitebrook Wind Up
Distance: 90 miles! The Coastal Challenges are 3 marathons over 3 days plus some extra for getting lost a few times as well as the conversion from ‘country’ mile to ‘normal’ mile
Training run: Sheepway to Portbury, up through Prior’s Wood, cross country to Lower Failand, to Abbots Leigh, Fify Acre Woods and Clifton Golf Club to Ashton Court, down past the house and on to the Avon. Back along the tow path.
Food: All food…..as long as it’s not celery
Post race: chips immediately after then a curry later
Music: Crowded House, Elbow, Paulo Nutini, Paul Simon, Maverick Sabre, Lady Antebellum
Film: Scent of a Woman
Book: Kafka On The Shore – Haruki Murakami and Feet in the Clouds – Richard Askwith
Top tips to pass on to others:
Running – Get off the road, hit the trails and get your trainers dirty.
Life - “Do or do not, there is no try”
Biggest Achievement: Atlantic Coast Challenge – 3 marathons over 3 days along the coastal path. I’d not run further than 15 miles non-stop prior to that
Motivation - What gets you out of bed in the morning: the thought of what’s next – what exciting things are waiting round the corner
Who would you invite to dinner: David Mitchell, Al Pacino, Sheldon Cooper, Rhod Gilbert, David Attenborough, Tom Hardy & Mark Foster
Something we don’t know about you: Come on, do you really think I’d tell you that, what would be left for gossip?
