The 10k and 5k Multi-Terrain Runs are open to all (13 years and over for the 5k, 15 years and over for the 10k), and start at 10.30 am. The course is designed to be within the capabilities of any normal fit runner or jogger. Both courses use sections of tarmac road, woodland and coastal paths in and around the Portishead Lake Grounds. Time limit 90 minutes. Remember the aim is to participate, to enjoy and to finish the course.

The Route

The 10k Run takes in Portishead’s Lake Grounds, Battery Point, the nature reserve around Woodhill the coast path and Nore Road, before finishing back at the Lake Grounds.

The 5k Run exactly covers the first half of the 10k, including the lake grounds and nature reserve, before splitting off and finishing at the same place as the start.

Both routes include roads, paths, hills and fields. Care should be taken, especially over the rougher sections. Don’t be afraid to walk on the steeper climbs - others will!

The Family Fun Run is a course around the cricket ground avoiding all roads and hazards, making it ideal for children, Mums and Dads! It starts at 10.15 am.

Getting there and parking

The race starts from just outside the race HQ, which is situated in Portishead Cricket Club’s pavilion on the Lake Grounds just off Lake Road. There is free parking available at the HQ, provided you arrive early enough.

Other parking is available on the Esplanade and if that fills up, on Beach Road West but please be considerate to local residents when parking. Keep in mind that access to the parking will be restricted while the race is underway for the safety of the runners.

People arriving from the M5 should leave at junction 19 and follow the signs for Portishead. Stay on the main road until you arrive in the town centre at a T junction with a petrol station on your right. At the junction turn right and then left and follow signs for the Lake Grounds and Open Air Pool.
