The race was run in relatively cool conditions, with a good turn out for a first event. Clevedon’s Nigel Charman led from the start, with Southville’s Matt Burns on his shoulder throughout. Just behind them, the two leading home team runners, Bart Rees and Tim Haysom battled it out for 3rd, with Bart just taking the bronze in the end by a couple of seconds.

Charlie Hurcum of Portishead was the first lady home, obviously not too tired after her 10k PB at Clevedon on Tuesday. She was followed by Karen Thompson and Helen Tunnicliff, making up a Portishead 1-2-3. Despite taking the bronze, Helen sadly lost the more important battle of the day (and a bet) by just being beaten across the line by her husband Richard.

In a quick poll, we had good feedback from the competitors, but if you have any comments or suggestions on how we can make next year’s event even better, other than “flatten Rodmore Road”, or “make it a few hundred yards shorter”, both of which we heard, please let us know.
